How to review bookmarked lines
Stars are only useful if you reopen them. Here is a short, original routine for turning bookmarked Nicos Weg lines into spoken German — without drowning in a giant list.
In Echo Deutsch, the star next to a cue saves that line in your browser for the current video. Bookmarks mode then shows only those lines. That is perfect for sticky greetings, directions, and “I don’t understand” phrases — as long as you review them on purpose.

When to star a line
- You understood the meaning but could not say it smoothly.
- The phrase is reusable outside the episode (greetings, polite requests, locations).
- You want to check spelling later with Dictation.
Avoid starring every unknown word. Prefer whole lines you will actually reuse. Five good bookmarks beat thirty half-forgotten ones.
A ten-minute bookmark review
- Open Bookmarks mode for the same video. If the list is empty, watch or shadow for five minutes and star only what slips.
- Speak each line once with Shadowing or Loop. Hide English if you already know the meaning.
- Unstar what feels easy so the list stays small. Keep lines that still stumble.
- Optional export — use Export bookmarks on the practice page to download a CSV of DE/EN lines for paper or Anki-style review later.
Make the list diverse
Mix functions, not only vocabulary themes: one greeting, one question, one “I need help” line, one place phrase. That mirrors real conversations better than twenty food words from one scene.
