A calm, free companion for practicing German with Deutsche Welle’s Nicos Weg films — built for listening, repeating, and noticing language.

Echo Deutsch is a browser-based practice tool. It embeds the official Nicos Weg videos from YouTube and overlays study features: dual German/English captions (when available), slower playback, shadowing pauses, A–B loops, listen→reveal, light dictation, and bookmarks.

The goal is simple: spend more time speaking and noticing phrases, and less time hunting for settings. On phones, player options live in a drawer so the video and captions stay front and center.

Who runs this site

Echo Deutsch is an independent learner project — not a company course, not a school, and not a Deutsche Welle product. It is maintained as a free study companion for people who already use Nicos Weg on YouTube and want better practice tools around those videos.

There are no accounts or learner profiles on our servers. Settings and bookmarks stay in your browser. For questions, feedback, or privacy requests, use the Contact Us page ([email protected]).
