Episode summary

Emma’s father answers at Polizeirevier Ost—Brunner hier—and first worries that something is wrong with Emma. Lisa reassures him: Emma geht es gut, but Nico has a problem. He was at the airport, comes from Spain, his bag is missing, and he does not speak German well. The officer asks about papers: Hat er Papiere? Einen Ausweis oder einen Pass? Nico’s passport is inside the lost bag; all he has is a photo of his aunt, who lives in Germany. Nico explains in mixed language that she has a bicycle shop; Lisa translates Fahrradgeschäft. Father’s plan is practical: they are looking for an address of a woman with a bike shop, so Lisa should bring Nico to the police. They close with Danke, Bis später, Mach’s gut, and Viel Erfolg—polite phone German wrapped around a real emergency.

Grammar & usage focus

Describing a problem: Er hat ein Problem

A simple pattern for emergencies is X hat ein Problem plus a short reason clause: Seine Tasche ist weg. Questions about documents often use haben + noun: Hast du einen Pass?. Notice the articles: ein Problem (neuter), einen Pass / einen Ausweis (masculine accusative after haben). On the phone, speakers identify themselves with a place or name first (Brunner hier) before asking Was ist los?

Examples

  • Nico hat ein Problem: Sein Pass ist weg.
  • Hast du einen Ausweis oder einen Pass dabei?

Tips for shadowing this episode

Build a three-sentence emergency script: Name, problem (Tasche/Pass ist weg), and one detail (Tante hat ein Fahrradgeschäft). Practice phone openers like Brunner hier and closings Bis später / Viel Erfolg. Stress einen Pass aloud so the masculine accusative ending becomes automatic after haben.
