Episode summary

Someone stays behind with plenty of German exercises while Lisa is away on holiday, already looking forward to her return. On the phone, Lisa’s vacation weather sounds perfect; the local report is the opposite: around seven degrees, cloudy skies, possible rain in the evening, and an even colder day tomorrow under a permanently gray Himmel. The unfair contrast—sun and twenty degrees for Lisa—stings, and the complaint gemein captures that feeling. Then the talk shifts: Nico, who stayed after the party, lost his bag, and the radio description is remembered—black, with a bicycle patch. The speaker thinks that exact bag has just been found. Weather phrases and a small detective detail share the same short scene, so you practice degrees, forecasts, and describing an object together.

Grammar & usage focus

Weather forecasts with soll and wird

For uncertain forecasts Germans often use soll + infinitive (es soll regnen = it’s supposed to rain). For a change ahead, wird + adjective is common (morgen wird es noch kälter). Temperature is stated with es sind … Grad. Adjectives like bewölkt and grau describe the sky without needing a full verb every time.

Examples

  • Abends soll es vielleicht noch regnen.
  • Morgen wird es noch kälter.
