Episode summary

Max serves two schnitzels “à la Tarek,” and everyone wishes guten Appetit—Nico and Inge included. Talk turns to free time: Nico plays football and is invited to join a match next week. Asked what else he enjoys, he rejects jogging, mentions swimming sometimes, listening to lots of music, and cycling often. His real favorite, though, is fishing. Inge lights up—she and her partner also fish when they have time, besides theater and cinema—and digs for last year’s crazy photos of a huge pike after almost giving up. While searching, a picture of Yara appears. Nico recognizes her; Inge explains Yara is her aunt. Hobby verbs and Spaß language carry the episode until that family twist lands. Pause on the aunt reveal and retell it in German.

Playing sports uses spielen + sport name without an article. Questions like Was machst du in deiner Freizeit? invite this pattern.

Tips for shadowing this episode

Answer the episode’s Freizeit question three ways about yourself using manchmal, gern, and am liebsten. Shadow the pike story once for rhythm, even if some words are above A1. When the photo of Yara appears, pause and retell the family link in one German sentence.
