Episode summary

In an office, people hunt for something important that simply will not turn up. They have already checked the cupboard; suggestions keep coming—under the keyboard, behind the printer, on the shelf—yet each spot is empty. One person insists it must be there and asks for a moment longer. Suddenly the missing item appears: proof that shows the bike shop they have been chasing across town. Relief lasts only a second. The shop is marked temporarily closed—zu, geschlossen—and Yara is not there. Confusion follows: that cannot be right; where is Yara? A brief counter-style beat asks for a receipt and wishes a nice day. Office prepositions and the closed-versus-open contrast are the main learning payoff in this search scene, especially when you are hunting for a closed shop.

Grammar & usage focus

Local prepositions: unter, hinter, im / in dem

This office hunt recycles two-way prepositions with the dative for static location: unter der Tastatur, hinter dem Drucker, im Schrank, im Regal. Use accusative only for clear movement into a place. Adjectives like geschlossen and vorübergehend describe the shop’s state without a full verb each time.

Examples

  • Vielleicht liegt der Zettel unter der Tastatur oder hinter dem Drucker.
  • Im Regal ist nichts; der Laden ist vorübergehend geschlossen.

Tips for shadowing this episode

Mime each location as you hear it—hand under an imaginary keyboard, then behind a printer—to lock the prepositions. Pair geschlossen with offen in flashcards the same day. On a second watch, list every office object you hear before checking the English.
