Episode summary

Goodbyes fill the first half of the episode before trouble starts. Martina and Herbert part warmly with Tschüss, Gute Reise, Mach’s gut, and Bis bald, while a more formal pair uses Auf Wiedersehen with Herr Tillmanns and Frau Scholl and again wishes Gute Reise. Attention then swings to Nico on the street: a passerby checks Alles okay? Brauchst du Hilfe? and even drops in the English word help so the meaning is unmistakable. Nico’s bag has vanished into a taxi; he calls Hilfe! and struggles to explain that die Tasche is gone. The helper confirms Die Tasche ist weg in dem Taxi? and asks the key direction question Wohin willst du?, then offers Willst du ins Zentrum? Nico answers quickly: Zentrum, ja! The episode pairs farewell phrases with emergency help language and a simple destination reply.

Grammar & usage focus

Saying goodbye: Tschüss vs. Auf Wiedersehen

Informal goodbyes among friends and family include Tschüss, Mach’s gut, and Bis bald. In formal or service situations, Auf Wiedersehen is safer. Gute Reise wishes someone a good journey and pairs with either style. Separately, wohin asks for destination (direction), while wo would ask for location—here helpers need wohin because Nico must go somewhere next.

Examples

  • Tschüss, Martina! Bis bald und gute Reise!
  • Auf Wiedersehen, Frau Scholl. Danke schön!
